Boston Jumps Aboard
Toronto Argonauts

Posted Apr 29, 2008

Following a long line of former NFLers heading to Toronto to revive their careers, former NFL Pro Bowl receiver David Boston has signed with the Argonauts.

Mississauga – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is thrilled to announce that former Pro Bowl receiver and NFL receiving yards leader David Boston has signed a contract with the club.

Commented Argonauts Head Coach Rich Stubler, “We are extremely excited about signing David.  We have been looking for a big, physical receiver and he certainly fulfills that role. He has the size and speed to be a dominant player in our league as the wider field should fit well with his natural abilities. Combined with returning receivers Arland Bruce III, Obed Cétoute, Patrick Johnson, Andre Talbot and Chad Rempel, David adds another powerful weapon to our receiving corps.”

Boston was selected eighth overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 1999 NFL Draft. The 29-year old played 56 games with the Cardinals and teamed up with QB Jake Plummer to lead the NFL in receiving yards with 1,598 in 2001, the same season he was named to the NFL Pro Bowl team. His receiving yards total still stand as the highest single-season total in club history, and at the time (23 years, 4 months), he became the second-youngest player in NFL history to reach1,500+ receiving yards in a season. He later joined the San Diego Chargers where he played with All-Time Argo Doug Flutie and led the club in receiving yards in 2003. Boston was eventually traded to the Miami Dolphins and most recently attended training camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Remarked newest Argo David Boston, “I’m extremely excited to come to Toronto and compete, and hopefully win a Grey Cup championship. I’m thankful for the opportunity the organization has given me and I’m looking forward to being at training camp.”

As one of the greatest receivers in Ohio State history, Boston entered the NFL Draft as a junior but still managed to set eleven school receiving records. He caught 191 passes for 2,855 yards and 34 touchdowns in three seasons and was twice named an All-Big 10 selection.
