Mississauga – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is pleased to announce that two-time East Division All-Star RB Robert Edwards has signed a practice roster agreement with the club. | |||

Edwards made his CFL debut
in 2005 with the Montreal Alouettes and accumulated 2,767 yards from scrimmage
and 25 touchdowns on 426 carries and 48 receptions in his first two seasons.
In 2006, he finished atop the CFL with 17 total touchdowns and was third in the
league in rushing with 1,155 yards on the ground. Before joining the
Alouettes, Edwards was a first round (18th overall) NFL draft pick
of the New England Patriots in 1998. In his rookie campaign with the
Pats, he totalled 1,115 yards and 9 touchdowns on 291 carries. In 1999,
he suffered a knee injury that sidelined him until 2002, when he re-joined the
NFL with the Miami Dolphins. The Toronto Argonauts also
announced that DB Jermaine Mays and
RB Jamel White have been

Montreal on August 18. 2006: Named East Division All-Star…Finished the season
with a league-leading 17 touchdowns and was third in the league behind only
Charles Roberts and Joffrey Reynolds in rushing yards with 1,155 yards on 239
carries…Also added 21 receptions for 211 yards and 3 touchdowns…2006

totalling 107 yards on 20 carries and catching 18 passes for 126 yards and 1
touchdown. 1999 – 2001: Did not play football while recovering from knee
injury. 1998: Drafted in the 1st Round (18th
overall) by the New England Patriots in the 1998 NFL Draft…Totalled 1,115 yards

35 receptions for 331 yards and 3 touchdowns. College: Played five seasons for the University of Georgia
Bulldogs (1993-1997)…Began his university career as a cornerback before being

named the 2003 winner of the Jim Thorpe Courage Award after returning to pro
football with the Miami Dolphins. His younger brother is WR Terrance Edwards of
the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and he studied Marketing while at Georgia |
