CFL and CFLPA Announce New Marketing Venture

The Canadian Football League (CFL), in partnership with its Players’ Association (CFLPA), announced today the first ever co-marketing initiative to promote and market the CFL game by highlighting 16 players from across the League as the CFL PROs.

The CFL PROs, comprised of two players from each team, will represent the Canadian Football League through the 2007 season and will appear prominently in all league marketing material. These CFL ambassadors will be visible in the community, regionally and nationally as representatives of the League.

“The heart and soul of our great game is our players,” said Mark Cohon, CFL Commissioner. “These premier athletes have shown great perseverance and discipline - establishing themselves in an elite group of professional football players in Canada. It’s impressive to see how they continue to be accessible and continue to actively participate in the community and with fans everywhere.”

The 16 players were hand-selected by the CFL and its member clubs. Players were chosen based on their character, on-field achievements, community involvement and their broad appeal to CFL fans, specifically the next generation of fans.

“Any way we can promote the efforts and achievements of CFL players is a positive experience for everyone,” said Stu Laird, CFLPA President. “The players and the Players’ Association are excited to partner with the CFL on this initiative.”
