Kidd Calls It Quits
British Columbia Lions

Posted May 31, 2007

The BC Lions Football Club announced today that former standout linebacker Carl Kidd has officially retired.

Carl Kidd played seven seasons for the Lions and enjoyed two Grey Cup championships (2000, 2006). The vocal and talented Arkansas-grad led the CFL in special teams tackles in 2006 with 24 and added 39 defensive tackles and two pass knockdowns.

Carl was an outstanding football player and remains an outstanding individual,” said Lions GM and head coach Wally Buono. “There are plenty of achievements in Carl’s past and I know he will enjoy many more in the future.”

In his final game as a Lion, Kidd would provide fans and teammates with one of his strongest performances as he teamed-up with fellow linebacker Javier Glatt to force a decisive fumble in final moments of last year’s Grey Cup victory over the Montreal Alouettes

It was an honor to play for the BC Lions,” said Kidd. “The city of Vancouver, fans of the Lions and all of the great players who I lined-up beside will forever be in my heart.”

Kidd ends his career with 94 games played, 299 defensive tackles, 69 special teams stops, 17 sacks, 11 TFL, 11 fumble recoveries and 10 interceptions (five for TD’s).
