Toronto Argonauts all-star defensive end Jonathan Brown and all-star cornerback Jordan Younger have welcomed the New Year by signing contract extensions that will keep them with the club through 2008. | |||

Argonauts’ Assistant Head
Coach/Defensive Coordinator, Rich Stubler enthused, “We’re very happy to keep
continuity on our defence with two of our stellar performers.” In three seasons as two of
the best defensive players in the CFL, Brown and Younger have combined for two
CFL All-Star awards, four East Division All-Star awards and a CFLPA All-Star
nomination. Brown has twice led the team in sacks, accumulating 27 in three
seasons, and is just three quarterback hits from tying Mike Campbell for fifth
most sacks in club history. He is a two-time CFL Lineman of the Week and has
been named CFL Lineman of the Month. Younger scored his first regular season
CFL touchdown this season on a 72-yard interception return and has knocked away
a staggering 22 passes over the past three years. His speed and agility have
twice earned #26 CFL Defensive Player of the Week honours. Jonathan Brown commented,
“I’m happy to extend in Toronto and I’m ready to bring a Grey Cup championship
back to Argos fans. I hope to lead our team back to the promised land on
November 25 at Rogers Centre.” Brown and Younger have
been teammates, on three different clubs, since 2003. Both signed with the
NFL’s Washington Redskins in 2003 where they attended training camp. Following
training camp, the pair was allocated to NFL Europe’s Amsterdam Admirals and
then both found starting positions with the Argonauts in 2004 where they helped
bring the city of Toronto its 15th Grey Cup Championship. |
