Cheatwood Shown the Door
Hamilton Tigercats

Posted Jan 15, 2007

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced that the team has released veteran import defensive end Tim Cheatwood.

“We would like to thank Tim for his hard work and dedication to the team over the past five seasons,” said general manager Marcel Desjardins.  “Unfortunately with the new salary management system being established coupled with Tim’s ongoing recovery from a significant injury, we couldn’t risk bringing him to training camp in his condition.”

“We indicated to Tim that we would welcome his return to the Ticats under the right circumstances when he is completely healthy and ready to compete for a roster spot,” Desjardins added.

Cheatwood played five seasons (2002-2006) for the Black and Gold, recording 225 defensive tackles and 41 sacks in 76 games.  He was named a CFL All-Star in 2004.
