The Edmonton Eskimos today announced the signing of free agent running back and three times CFL East All-Star Josh Ranek. | |||
|
Ranek spent the 2006
season with Hamilton where injuries limited his production and playing time. In
ten games with the ‘Cats, Ranek posted 85 carries for 343 yards, 26 receptions
for 254 yards and three touchdowns. The former South Dakota State star played
four seasons (2002 – ’05) with the Ottawa Renegades where he emerged as a
bona fide CFL star. In 2003, Ranek became the first player in Renegades history
to crack the 1000+ yard rushing mark in a season, a feat he would repeat in
2004 and ’05. Prior to joining the
Renegades, Ranek attended the 2002 Dallas Cowboys training camp. Eskimo Head Coach and
Director of Football Operations Danny Maciocia says “Josh is one of the CFL’s
elite running backs, and arguably the league’s best north-south runner. We
expect he’ll be a very important part of our offence”. Running Back (Import) Born: May 11, 1978 –
