“My family and I are delighted because Montreal is definitely
where we want to be,” said Bellefeuille. “We are
truly fortunate to be part of such a professional organization and feel at home
in the Alouettes’ family.” Bellefeuille will begin
his seventh season as a coach in the Canadian Football League. He started his professional
coaching career in 2001 as offensive line coach with the Saskatchewan
Roughriders before being promoted to Offensive Coordinator in 2003. Over the following three seasons, the
Roughriders had a 29-25 record and led the league in rushing every season. He became the Alouettes’
receivers and running backs coach in 2006. The Alouettes were the only team in
the league to have two receivers with over 1000 yards last year. Before his professional
career, Bellefeuille got his experience at the high school level in Ottawa,
before moving on to the university level with the Ottawa Gee-Gee’s. He led them
all the way to a Vanier Cup championship in 2001 as their head coach. Marcel and his wife Julie
live in Blainville with their four children: Ymilie, Alexandra, Mathias and
Cédrick. |
