Sorry for the short hiatus. Between a bit of a health scare last month and my Grey Cup commitments for CFL.ca, I’m afraid CFLInsider.com was neglected a bit the last few weeks. | |||

I’m back on the job now, though, and the site will feature the most up-to-date off-season news available. For those of you who didn’t get a chance to catch my blog on CFL.ca Grey Cup, the league kept me pretty busy checking out all the festivities and keeping a weblog of everything I experienced. Winnipeg was wonderful. The city and its people were great, and the events couldn’t have been more enjoyable. Because everything was so centralized, it was a completely different vibe from last year in Vancouver. Winnipeg’s downtown was just hopping with Grey Cup insanity, and being in the middle of it was a blast. I wish I could say the same about the game. As a long-time Als’ fan, I was in misery for three hours watching my team dominated by a better squad. The fact that Montreal was still in the game up until Robert Edwards’ goal line fumble just made things worse for me. I would have preferred a blowout. It really was like watching someone bleed to death by papercut. Enough of that whining, though. B.C. played like champions all year and they certainly deserved the Cup. (They didn’t have to break it, though!) McCallum was unconscious, and Dickenson played as efficient a game as he has all year against a gallant Als defence. Low-scoring or not, the 94th Grey Cup was a fitting end to the Lions’, and the CFL’s, year, and I salute both. I’ll be back next week with a few thoughts on this off-season’s early action, and my own salute to the Commissioner as he unburdens himself of the Board of Governors. Until then, take care. |
