From the Lark's Nest

Birds lay eggs. So did the Als on Saturday. A rancid egg at that.

From the Larks' Nest.....a soiled, foul nest!

Words are hard to come by to describe this abysmal game.  It was so bad it was darn near unwatchable for these eyes.

I usually like to single out a few players for some well-deserved praise, and a few others for some well-timed darts.  Sorry gang, it's darts all around this time.  The O-line couldn't produce holes for a running game, couldn't protect Calvillo, AC was mediocre at best, Cobourne will make no one fear a ground game, the receivers were uniformly poor (and Anderson was the worst of a bad lot), special teams weren't, the D-line and LBs allowed 198 yards rushing to a second stringer who hadn't played all year, penalties were atrocious, even Anwar Stewart, who had been playing fantastic the past few weeks was missing in action.  The list could go on and on ad infinitum.

What I find so inexcusable about this game was the way we came out so flat......this game meant little to our opponents, and it meant quite a lot to us....with this loss we do face a possibility (if we lose to the Argos and the Bombers beat BC) of finishing third.  With that on the line you would think the players would be up and ready for the game......they weren't.  Someone better figure out why, and do so quickly.

I do not want to hear any whining about the lousy field at the stadium.  The Eskimos had to play on that field too..........and they played rather well for a last place team.

We need some personnel moves for the match in Toronto.  Sit Anderson down, let Edwards take his place, at least he gives us some effort.  If Cahoon's ribs still aren't right, sit him down too and let Stala play; no sense risking a more serious injury.  Find some help for that O-line....too late to bring in new personnel or new O-line coach (both of which should be priorities for next year), but find something, a new scheme, something, anything, to get a running game going....even if the Gods smile on us and we luck our way to the Grey Cup in Winnipeg, let's face it in that stadium, outdoors in November, we're going to need to be able to run the ball.  Bench Truluck on the D-line for his idiotic brain cramp penalties and let Kashama get a shot at that spot; light a fire under Ellis or Taylor to get some consistency at MLB, or bring Mackey back.

Changes like that might still get us into first place.....we meet the Argos on their home turf, but they've been looking about as dysfunctional as we are lately.
