Rogers Players of the Week

The Canadian Football League (CFL) announced today the Rogers CFL Players of the Week #15 as selected by members of the Canadian football broadcasters.

Offensive Player of the Week

QB – Jason Maas – Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Highlights / Key Stats:

Jason Maas returned to Commonwealth Stadium on Friday night for the first time since being traded to the Tiger-Cats in the off-season and arguably had his best performance of the 2006 season. Maas completed 26-of-39 passes for 388 yards and one touchdown, added three carries for 22 yards an led his team to 20-18 victory, keeping their playoff hopes alive.

Defensive Player of the Week

LB – Otis Floyd – B.C. Lions

B.C. Lions 20 @ Saskatchewan 23

Highlights / Key Stats:

For the second straight week Otis Floyd has been honoured for his defensive play. Despite suffering a 23-20 overtime loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Floyd had solid game, recording four tackles (including one for a loss), three forced fumbles and a pair of sacks.

Lineman of the Week

DL – Tyrone Williams – B.C. Lions

B.C. Lions 20 @ Saskatchewan 23

Highlights / Key Stats:

BC Lions defensive lineman Tyrone Williams was also honoured for his defensive play. Williams had five tackles (including one for a loss), one forced fumble and one sack.

Special Teams Player of the Week

K – Sandro DeAngelis – Calgary Stampeders

Toronto Argonauts 18 @ Calgary Stampeders 39

Highlights / Key Stats:

Sandro DeAngelis  was a perfect 6-for-6 in field goals (13, 27, 35, 49, 49, 51) and 3-for-3 in converts, scoring a total of 21 points to lead the Stampeders to a 39-18 victory over the Toronto Argonauts. DeAngelis also averaged 57.5 yards on six kickoffs.
