The 2006 CFL season enters Week #10 with a classic West Division rivalry match-up as the Edmonton Eskimos look to snap the BC Lions’ four-game winning streak.

Here’s a look at this week’s match-ups:

 

ESKS (3-5) vs.  LIONS (6-3)

 

Game Day: Friday, Aug. 18       Location: BC Place Stadium     

Game Time: 10:30 ET    TV Broadcast: TSN      

 

By the Numbers

 

 

-      The Lions will look to continue their four-game winning streak, the longest winning stretch in the West Division this season.

-      BC safety Barron Miles’ League-leading seven interceptions equals his single season-high.

-      Lions’ wide receiver Geroy Simon needs 94 yards to reach the 1000-yard mark for the fourth time in his career.

-      Edmonton QB Ricky Ray leads the League in passing yards with 2,443.

-      BC is 3-1 at home this season. Edmonton is has yet to win on the road, 0-3.

-      After sharing the sack title last season with Calgary (47), the Eskimos’ 13 sacks this season are the fewest by any club.

-      The Lions and the Eskimos have split the first two games this season. The winner of Friday night’s game will take the season series and the advantage, should the teams find themselves tied at season’s end.

 

The last time…

 

 

…These two clubs met was on Aug. 4 at BC Place; BC, 34-17. Simon torched the Eskimos for five receptions and 196 yards and two touchdowns.

 

 

ALS (7-1) vs. ARGOS (3-5)

 

Game Day: Saturday, Aug. 19   Location: Rogers Centre           

Game Time: 7:00 ET    TV Broadcast: TSN / RDS

 

By the Numbers

 

 

-       Toronto QB Damon Allen is only 89 yards short of eclipsing the 70,000 yard mark.

-      Montreal running back Robert Edwards has a League-leading 11 TDs this season. If Edwards continues on this pace he will set a new record for majors in a season, currently held by Milt Stegall (23).

-      Toronto is 1-2 playing at the Rogers Centre. Montreal’s only loss this season came on the road.

-      Montreal QB Anthony Calvillo should have a lot of time in the pocket on Saturday. The Argos’ 15 sacks rank second last in the League and the Montreal offence has only allowed nine sacks this season.

 

 

The last time…

 

 

…These two clubs met was on Aug. 3 at Molson Stadium; Als, 31-7. Edwards ran for 138 yards on 17 carries and scored two TDs.

…Toronto defeated Montreal at the Rogers Centre was Oct. 17, 2003 when the Argos won 45-13.

 

TICATS (2-7) vs. RIDERS (3-5)

 

Game Day: Saturday, Aug. 19   Location: Mosaic Stadium        

Game Time: 10:00 ET    TV Broadcast: CBC     

 

By the Numbers…

 

 

-      Saskatchewan has won the last four meetings between these two clubs.

-      Hamilton is 1-4 on the road. Saskatchewan is 2-2 at home.

-      Tiger-Cats’ Corey Holmes is expected to play.

-      The Roughriders have allowed 25 sacks this season, already surpassing their season total of 23 sacks allowed through all of last year.

-      Saskatchewan QB Kerry Joseph is suffering from a sore knee which could lead to backup QB Marcus Crandell getting the nod.

 

 

The last time…

 

 

…These two clubs met the Roughriders defeated the Ticats 32-13 on July 17, 2005 in Regina.

…Hamilton defeated Saskatchewan in Regina was August 11, 2000; 29-23.
