Rogers Players of the Week

The CFL announced the recipients of the Rogers Players of the Week Awards, recognizing Ticats RB Josh Ranek, Stamps DB Coby Rhinehart, Lions DE Brent Johnson, and Als K/P Ddamon Duval for their performances in week 8.

The Canadian Football League (CFL) announced today the Rogers CFL Players of the Week #8 as selected by members of the Canadian football broadcasters.

Offensive Player of the Week

RB – Josh Ranek – Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Highlights / Key Stats:

Hamilton tailback Josh Ranek exploded for 164 yards on 27 carries against the toughest rush defence in the League. The versatile running back also hauled in four catches for 69 yards, including a 37-yard score, helping the Ticats secure their first road victory since 2004.

Defensive Player of the Week

DB – Coby Rhinehart – Calgary Stampeders

Saskatchewan Roughriders 7 @ Calgary Stampeders 23

Highlights / Key Stats:

In helping the Stampeders snap a three-game losing streak, defensive back Coby Rhinehart recorded nine tackles, two pass knockdowns, one sack and one interception.

Lineman of the Week

DE – Brent Johnson – B.C. Lions

Edmonton Eskimos 17 @ B.C. Lions 34

Highlights / Key Stats:

BC Lions defensive end Brent Johnson continues to lead the League in quarterback sacks (8) after adding one to his season total in the Lions 34-17 victory over the Edmonton Eskimos. Johnson also recorded two tackles.

Special Teams Player of the Week

K / P – Damon Duval – Montreal Alouettes

Toronto Argonauts 7 @ Montreal Alouettes 31

Highlights / Key Stats:

Montreal received a significant contribution from place kicker Damon Duval in their 31-7 win over the Toronto Argonauts. Duval connected on 5 of 6 field goals from 16, 23, 25, 27 and 37 yards. He was also perfect on two converts, finishing the game with 17 points.

Duval punted five times for 260 yards, averaging 52 yards a punt and had four kickoffs for 269 yards, an average of 67 yards.
