Rogers Players of the Week

The CFL announced the recipients of the Rogers Players of the Week Awards, recognizing Blue Bombers SB Milt Stegall, Lions S Barron Miles, Argos DE Riall Johnson, and Argos KR Bashir Levingston for their performances in week 5.

The Canadian Football League (CFL) announced today the Rogers CFL Players of the Week #6 as selected by members of the Canadian football broadcasters.

Offensive Player of the Week

SB – Milt Stegall – Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Winnipeg Blue Bombers 25 @ Edmonton Eskimos 22

Highlights / Key Stats:

In the final play of the game, down 22-19 to the Edmonton Eskimos, Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Kevin Glenn connected with slotback Milt Stegall who split two defenders and scored a 100-yard touchdown for the win. Stegall finished the game with 10 receptions for 254 yards and one touchdown.

Defensive Player of the Week

S – Barron Miles – BC Lions

B.C. Lions 43 @ Calgary Stampeders 20

Highlights / Key Stats:

Lions safety Barron Miles picked-off two Danny McManus’ passes which led to 10 points in BC’s 43-20 road win over the Calgary Stampeders. Miles also had three tackles, one forced fumble and a pass knockdown. With the victory, BC joins the Stamps atop the West Division. 

Miles is the early 2006 interception leader with six.

Lineman of the Week

Toronto Argonauts 26 @ Saskatchewan Roughriders 23

Highlights / Key Stats:

In Toronto’s 26-23 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders this past weekend, Johnson recorded five tackles, two sacks and forced a fumble, helping the Argos claim their first road win of the season.

Toronto Argonauts 26 @ Saskatchewan Roughriders 23          

Highlights / Key Stats:

Toronto Argonauts kick return specialist Bashir Levingston became the first player this season to return a kick for a touchdown. In the Argos 26-23 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Levingston ran back a first quarter punt 88 yards for the early score. Levingston finished the game with three punt returns for 99 yards.
